Types of Cricket Matches

As all, we know that cricket player's profile and their stat decide by types of cricket matches played.

When cricket first started, there were two types of matches: First class and Tests. Present Time, there is a total of six categories of matches. In different matches, different bowls are used Types of balls in cricket


In Basic forms of cricket:
  • First-class
  • One day
  • Twenty 20 (T20)
International format and types of cricket:
  • Tests
  • One Day Internationals
  • Twenty 20 Internationals

Tests

Test matches are the international form of first-class fixtures. This format is an old traditional format for players. Most of the legends started their career form this format. Test match stat being the benchmark of greatness. Modern Time, Test match has been played for 5 days but in the past , this was for six days.
Bowlers bowl 90 overs per day in  this form. For playing test matches, teams wear white dresses because White is a good reflector of heat and feels more comfortable in this color. The innings can be concluded is a batting team is bowled out, or the captain issues a declaration. In addition, cricket’s governing body—the ICC—must sanction a match as a Test match—after all, a fixture between Test sides can be stripped of Test status and reduced to First-class status by the ICC. This once happened in a game between India and South Africa back in 2003.

FIRST CLASS MATCH

One-Day International

ODIs are international cricket games. Teams that have ODI status, or play in official tournaments sanctioned by the ICC. Bowlers bowl 50 overs per innings and white bowl used. When ODIs were first played in the early 1970s, 60-overs per side constituted a match. In this form, world cup is very famous and popular.

Twenty 20

The newest and shortest form of the game,T20s—as the name suggests— requires a maximum of 20-overs per innings. The minimum number of overs for T20s is five per inning, where rain or other interruptions occur. Like List A games, T20s have fielding and bowling restrictions. The duration of T20 matches is approximately three hours.
